BELLINGEN
No 2
Oak Street
This licensed or BYO restaurant is Bellingen's
best à la carte dining. Sit inside in front of the fire during winter
or outside on the verandah on balmy summer nights - either way you'll
have a meal to remember.
Lodge
241 - Gallery Café
An old Masonic Lodge put to alternate use
as a Sydney-styled café. The Lodge affords great views west up
the Bellinger Valley and often exhibits quality local paintings and sculpture.
The local Chess Club welcomes all comers on lazy Sunday afternoons, starting
1pm.
The Swiss Patisserie
If you are unconcerned by calories, start
your day at "the Swiss Patiss" with a pastry and coffee in Bellingen's
café precinct. Sit outside on wrought iron furniture or spread
the paper on wooden benches.
The Golly Gosh
Beside the Swiss Patrisserie and offering breakfast and lunch with coffee
and cones, The Golly Gosh is at the centre the cafe strip. Outdoor seating
and wide tables are available for larger groups.
Boiling
Billy Coffee House
Just up from "the Swiss Patiss"
the Boiling Billy is a café with a real country feel offering old
fashioned service with a changing menu of light meals.
The Lonely Palate Winery
Boutique winery that produces award winning
wines from local and regional fruits, other than grapes. Visitors are
welcome to taste these hand crafted products with hosts, David & Susie,
happy to expound the wines many virtues. A unique Bellingen experience!!
The
Old Butter Factory
If you're really hungry, this is the place
for you. Every meal is a small mountain. Service is fast and efficient.
The view is west over the golf course toward the mountains. The Butter
Factory complex is home to numerous craft shops which you may wish to
browse. <TOP>
SAWTELL (25mins drive
north)
The Blue Fig
Small and smart, The Blue Fig restaurant is
nestled in the main street of Sawtell directly opposite beautiful Morton
Bay Fig trees.
The restaurant seats only a
handful of people, serves modern cuisine and does a sideline in kitchen
and cookware. With back to back hospitality and food awards The
Blue Fig is a dining experience not to be missed. Book well ahead to be
sure of a table.
Olive Oyl's
One door down from The Blue Fig, Olive Oly's
offers excellent gourmet pizza and pasta dishes. BYO wine, choose a spot
indoors, or roadside on those balmy summer nights. Perfect compliment
to a movie at Sawtell's Cinema Internationale. <TOP>
DORRIGO (30mins drive
west)
Misty's
Don't miss an evening at "Misty's"
on the Dorrigo plateau. "Misty" because the cool air of the
plateau fogs the roads and fields during winter. Located in an old tailor's
shop, Misty's serves game meat, trout from Ebor and beautiful Dorrigo
potatoes. Not a vegetarian's restaurant.
Fresh
A new café with delicious home cooked cakes, innovative lunches,
a deli bar and good coffee. <TOP>
URUNGA (12mins drive
south east)
Anchors Wharf Café
Set on the side of the Kalang River in Urunga
("Where the river meets the sea"), Anchors Wharf Café
is an award winning eatery offering family restaurant dining.
